PUBLISHER & ART DIRECTOR

Janese is the proud founder and publisher of Culture Clash Magazine. With over 17 years of experience in Talent Management, Sales, Marketing, and Graphic Arts, she brings a savvy and hands-on approach to both the magazine and her full-service design business, JanMar Agency. Janese and her team make magic happen, including badass magazines that spotlight the voices of Galveston.

JESS SAFAVIMEHR

MANAGING EDITOR

Jessica is a Texas-based writer and editor with experience at FANGORIA, Hearst, The Knot, and Static Media, where she launched projects like the FANGORIA podcast network. She now travels full-time in a Class C RV with her husband, three dogs, and a cat. You can read her other works here!

LEAD DESIGNER

Sara is a Galveston IBC with a passion for interactive projects and brand design that bring the community together. A B.F.A. graduate from the University of Texas at Austin, she curates projects with intentional functionality and conceptual depth. Sara brings a youthful perspective and sharp design sensibility to every Culture Clash project.

Krista Ruiz

CONTRIBUTING EDITOR + PHOTOGRAPHER

Krista brings a decade of experience in creative marketing and content writing. Currently earning her Bachelor’s in Marketing from the University of Houston–Clear Lake, she combines strategy and creativity to craft stories that connect, inspire, and reflect Galveston’s unique culture.

MONICA FUENTES

DESIGNER

Monica is a true island soul at heart, and recently traded one island for another, moving from St. Thomas, USVI to the Gulf Coast’s own Galveston. As a native Houstonian, she has visited Galveston her entire life, and is beyond excited to finally call it home. She draws daily inspiration from the island’s rich history and vibrant, eclectic culture, and has fully embraced this new chapter.
